Nikos Armaos was born in Athens. He studied at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki. He worked as an actor in companies in Athens and Thessaloniki. He taught acting at the School of the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki and at the School of the National Theatre as well as directing at the theatre department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. One of the founders in 1978 of the "Theatre Guild", he founded in 1982 the "International Theatre Meeting" in Athens (Annual International Theatre Festival, "Averof" Theatre). He has been involved in directing since 1979 and has collaborated with the National Theatre, the National Theatre of Greece, Municipal Regional Theatres and independent companies, in Greece and abroad. Artistic director of the Kalamata Municipal Theatre (1986-89) and the Kalamata Municipal Theatre (1989-1990) Patras (1992-98). He has directed more than 70 plays in Greece.
