June 1999. Bogdan has to buy alcohol for his wife's 50th birthday. His job is made much harder by the Pope's visit in Poland and the resulting prohibition. A simple search for vodka quickly turns into a metaphysical odyssey.

Filip is a middle-aged man. He works as a professional film extra, and his specialty is the roles of dead bodies. On the set of a historical film, he meets Łucja, who plays the role of a dead woman.

Together with his family, Wiktor moves into a recently bought flat, which turns out to have belonged to Lech Wałęsa, a symbol of freedom and a legend as a simple electrician who became Poland’s president many years ago.

Piotruś is always broke, and he's had enough of it. At night, he’s the star of an underground band; during the day, he works as a waiter in a hotel restaurant. When the opportunity arises, he decides to sell drugs to one of the exceptionally rich guests, Joanna.

A chance meeting of a cleaner from Ukraine and a former star of the Polish music scene leads them to record a joint song about love.

The life of the main protagonist could become the basis for a feature film script. The ambitious boy spends part of the day picking strawberries together with his father. Yet Hubert wants to become a disco polo singer, as famous as Zenek Martyniuk, so after work he focuses on his musical passion. The boy starts with gigs at local fairs and records music videos to his songs. He has an ear for music, dreams about concerts attended by thousands and – which is most essential – has the support of his family that is won over by his enthusiasm.
