February 20, 1958: the Italian Parliament approved Law No. 75, the "Merlin Law": the end of an institution of Italian society for ages: the brothel. The Italian writer Dino Buzzati likens the event to the fire in the library of Alexandria in Egypt. The brothel is an institution that has spanned the centuries, thru different aspects, different forms. It is an institution that, in Italy, at least officially no longer exists. But it is also an institution that in other countries, still exists. The doc offers a journey that will start from the ruins of Pompeii brothel to get to the lights of Artemis in Berlin, with its soft drinks and its attention to the well-being and to the erotic papyrus from the Egyptian Museum of Turin and the giant Paradise in Girona, that El Pais has called the biggest brothel in Europe.

Between Turin and Pisa unfolds the life of a socially and professionally successful university professor of law. Endowed with great intelligence and an elusive charm, the man and the professor lead a “withdrawn” existence that occasionally borders on the beds of casual lovers. Determined to control reality and keep it carefully at arm's length, he becomes involved despite himself in the suicide death of a student. The boy, obsessed with the professor's life, has painstakingly recorded his lectures, his behavior, his habits...

Forty-year-old Gianni Orzan is satisfied with the life he has built for himself. He lives with his wife Anna, a very sweet woman, and their son Francesco. An encounter with a strange stranger who claims to know things about his father, a fascist soldier, throws Gianni's equilibrium into crisis, forcing him to make a lucid analysis of who he is and who he would have liked to become.

The back-in-time misadventures of Walter and Ascanio are not finished. The defective time-travel machine will bring them from prehistory all the way to outer space, in a funny, light-hearted trip across the time.
