The story of Enric Duran, a Catalan activist who, during the economic crisis of 2008, stole —by borrowing loans that he never paid back— half a million euros from banks, donated them to social projects and announced it to the media to denounce the practices of the banking system.

Three relatives of missing people travel a long and complex path in search of the remains of their loved ones, facing bureaucratic, legal and social processes that have persisted since the Civil War. Atlas of disappearance reconstructs what oblivion and repression tried to hide. Through digital maps, archives and forensic architecture, the film illuminates the silent transfer of thousands of missing people to the Cuelgamuros Valley during the Franco dictatorship. Between absences and silences, the film shows the constant struggle to recover the truth, giving name and place to those who were torn from history.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is the world’s largest producer of cobalt, a rare earth mineral that is essential in the production of technologies. In this hybrid documentary, South African artists Francois Knoetze and Amy Louise Wilson, together with Congolese historian Joe-Yves Salankang Sa-Ngol, trace the trans-continental journey of this precious metal: from its violent extraction in the mines of DRC to its sale on global stock markets. The Rock Speaks weaves a complex contemplation on an urgent ecological crisis that is fuelled by obscene labour practices that our technological systems demand.

After the driest April on record in Catalonia, rain finally arrived in May. May 25th saw the highest precipitation in Barcelona, while not ending the drought, did slow it down. On that day, we extracted climate data from the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, Meteocat, and transformed it into Generative RAIN: an audiovisual experiment that generates stories automatically using artificial intelligence (AI) models. Every hour, based on the forecast, we modified input instructions, resulting in the creation of texts, images, and sounds. We then selected and organized these elements into an audiovisual experience.

Statistical Hallucination is a tribute to Chris Marker's film La Jetée (1962), a story about a time traveler obsessed with an image from his past, to produce this statistical hallucination generated with artificial intelligence systems. Instead of Jean Négroni's voice, we now have a synthetic voice. In place of photographs of a post-apocalyptic Paris, there are those imagined by an artificial intelligence. What will the images of the future be?
