Vitásek has agreed to something again. He's scheduled to make a cameo at the International Drug Congress, fitting the theme. The date is fast approaching, and no idea for a number is in sight. His family is leaving, and nothing would stand in the way of his creative burst, if it weren't for this slight headache and the raised temperature. Stricken with the flu virus, Vitásek sifts through the package inserts of his medications with meticulous detail, misses the good old mercury thermometers that could still be "shaked up," and gives free rein to his fundamental distrust of doctors.

He is invited to the chancellor's party. But on the way there, he feels a little sentimental. So he takes a detour via Favoriten, where he grew up. This is Andreas Vitasek: poetic, cheerful, and a little devious. In what is perhaps his most personal program, Kurzzugende oder Ich war auch einmal so wie Sie, naja (1997). It's about the nature of happiness, claustrophobia in elevators, the art of cooking beef soup, impossible love and the possible consequences of trivial decisions, fame, alcohol, money, and gender confusion. In other words, all things human, served up indirectly and slyly.

The comedy “Ein fast perfekter Seitensprung” was not only successful, it was really well-done. The first sequel is, as most sequels, less attractive. As the charming mix of Germans and Austrians itself wasn't new and interesting any more, Schwabenitzky had to concentrate more on the less terrific elements. He emphasised the character-clichés and made up a more complex story, in order to bring down as many of the characters from the first film as possible. This sequel is only worth watching if you're a great fan of the first part. Actually, not even then.
