Hermeto Pascoal

Photographs present Hermeto Paschoal in the middle of the instruments he plays in the studio in his house. The rehearsals where the sounds are discovered and improvisation sets the tone. The musicians who are part of his band talk about the joint process of creation and the admiration they feel for the multi-instrumentalist. The picture brings interviews with the participants of the 1st São Paulo Jazz Festival that occurred in Anhembi Conventions Palace in September 1978 and reunited musicians, composers and singers from all around the world.

Through rare and precious footages and gigs with great artists such as Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Hermeto Pascoal, Djavan, Nara Leao, Luiz Gonzaga, among many others, "Dominguinhos" reveals this genius of Brazilian music, creator of a deeply authentic, universal and contemporary work. The film values the sensory cinematic experience, a journey driven by Dominguinhos his own.

As a toddler, Hermeto Pascoal made a flute from a pumpkin stalk so he could make music with the birds. His love of the sounds of nature has remained with him throughout his life. They play a major role in the music of the famous Brazilian composer, bandleader, conductor and multi-instrumentalist – known in Brazil as ‘the sorcerer.’
