It summarizes the encounter, at the end of 1999, between the bewildered Victoria and a man who has just arrived from Madrid to meet her on the last day of the millennium. The minimal dramatic substance of this situation acquires a singular character insofar as that man is her father: the girl is 27 years old and it is the first time she is going to see him.

Ana returns to Buenos Aires to claim her inheritance. She meets her father's close friend Dr. Benedetti, a scientist, where he has discovered a doorway to another dimension which allows Ana to reconvene with the dead.

This drama is based on a novel and incomplete screenplay by the late Maria Luis Bemberg. In 1930s Argentina, wealthy Sebastian (Antonio Birabent) leaves his Buenos Aires home for the family estate on the pampas. His family, concerned for his physical and mental health, arranges for Sebastian's childhood friend Juan (Walter Quiroz) to check on Sebastian's situation. Juan finds the highly erratic Sebastian caught in a doomed relationship with the Danish daughter of religious sect members. Unfortunately, Juan also becomes obsessed with the young woman, and Sebastian's suspicions increase.

His mother has left and Gonzalo doesn't know why. How he is taking care of his little infant sister all alone, though he himself is barely ten years old. Neighbours help and try to figure out what should be done with the two children. Like old Felipe with his pub, the veterinarian Julio and his wife, or kind Lorena, who's stranded in the town. And gradually Gonzalo finds out what is really going on.

Amidst the worn-out sets of Cinecittà, an ancient Roman aqueduct, and the Trevi Fountain, the two characters wander around with their solitary speeches. Disconnection is the death of love, and they are its ghosts.

The discovery of several tapes recorded in 1985, during the "Trials of the Juntas," inside the Anti-Subversive Museum of Buenos Aires, allows for a rare reconstruction of the dictatorship's discourse and reveals the residual power of the military even under democracy. This film illuminates a particularly dark historical period and creates a tension: the exposure of the dictatorship's triumphalist rhetoric and the mannequins as a spectral presence of the disappeared.
