In the 1960s, the film production company Lisa Film, headed by Karl Spiehs, ushered in a new era in German film: the erotic film. This period, characterized by change and openness, produced numerous successful films that had a lasting impact on the genre in Germany and captivated audiences.

Who is the funniest Berliner? Helga Hahnemann or Edith Hancke, Brigitte Mira or Cindy from Marzahn? rbb television is looking for the Berliner with the biggest mouth and the even bigger heart. Who will be number 1? Eduard von Bittermagen and his friend Professor Pfiff, indulge in an amusing hobby. They take every opportunity to bet on anything. Their latest bet: Bittermagen claims that his nephew Tommi, a young rascal and the Professor's young daughter Julia will become a couple although the two are actually not crazy about each other. Of course, Pfiff bets against it. But then Bittermagen uses a macabre trick. He acts as if his last hour had come and summons Tommi and Julia to his "deathbed". The musician Udo Lindenberg (played by himself) is kidnapped during the party after a concert. Nobody realises this until the next day, when he doesn't show up in time for a rehearsal. Since the police believes this is only a promotion gag, private eye Kuhlmann (also played by Udo Lindenberg) has to be hired to find him in time.

The film is based on the memoirs of Hamburg burglar Julius Adolf Petersen (1882-1933), who became famous as "Lord of Barmbeck". Petersen owed his status as a folk hero to the fact that he did not use any physical violence during his raids and only stole from rich people. After several times escaping, Petersen was finally sentenced to a long prison term. With no prospect of release, he took his own life in 1933.
