Jo Yang, a celebrity radio guest, receives a phone call while on air and sets in motion a series of events that threaten her life and her family. Forced to choose between saving a prostitute or a loan-shark, her choice is confronted by public outcry. This film is loosely inspired by real-life events in Singapore, and explores how it is more choice rather than chance that shapes our lives.

Nam was originally a Vietnamese soldier, yet because he hated the cruelty of war, he fled to Hong Kong and was placed in a refugee camp. Anan reunites with his long-lost brother in the camp. The two hope to immigrate to France and have a new life. In the refugee camp, the two gangs headed by big bully Kei and Kuen, who often fight openly and secretly for power.

Elsewhere in the city, a laundry shop girl has a crush on a customer, carrying on her days fantasizing about adventures with an inanimate version of him. Meanwhile, Po runs into a childhood friend and reminisces about the days of him as a teenager and his own infatuation with his best friend's mother. Back in the present, Po is contacted by a stranger with a secret about two people they know very well…
