Milan and Týna Svoboda’s marriage has, in recent months, turned into a series of minor and major misunderstandings, with the couple now arguing about almost anything. Milan has a soft spot for the Czech countryside and is thrilled at the prospect of sleeping under the stars, whilst Týna would much rather be by the sea. She sees the campsite in the Bohemian Paradise more as a compromise. From the moment they arrive, even seemingly ordinary things turn into comical disasters that gradually escalate. Instead of relaxation, the tension between them only intensifies. After an unexpected incident at Trosky Castle, they decide to try something completely different – spending some time apart. Perhaps this way they’ll finally discover what’s really important in life…

The real fate of Jiří Arvéd Smíchovský, a prominent hermeticist, occultist, believer in black magic and an exceptionally well-educated person with a brilliant memory. This avid book lover had doctorates in law, theology and philosophy and was fluent in five languages. The little man enjoys social life in the forest village, runs a forest kiosk with Majolenka, and has a band with his friends. The idyll is disrupted by reports of strange deer threatening the forest inhabitants. Suspicion is also aroused by the eccentric protector Dr. Zetek, who distributes televisions throughout the forest. Fear gradually takes hold of the villagers, the forest is swarming with robots, and the kiosk is empty. The little man must once again set out on a journey to save his beloved Majolenka, his friends, and indeed his home.

"A documentary anatomy of mass murder for one monitor and 34 talking heads." These are the words the filmmakers use in the credits to describe their project, which thematises the execution of more than 260 Carpathian Germans, Hungarians and Slovaks by Czechoslovak army soldiers near Přerov in June 1945. The “massacre at Přerov” is made present through a minimalist dramatisation of the interrogation footage of direct participants, eyewitnesses, and others. It is as if the characters of ancient theatre were entering the Zoom “stage” and delivering a tragic message of fear, hatred and disinterest across the chasm of time.

Young Princess Astrid falls in love with glove maker Jeník. However, there is a law in the royal land that prohibits the craft of glove-making, and all glove-makers have been banished from the country. This happened because a scroll was found in the cradle of the newborn princess, predicting that on her seventeenth birthday, she would marry a glove-maker. This was against the wishes of her royal parents, who wanted a noble groom for their daughter. Their plans are thwarted by the witch Gudrun, who uses her magic to help the young couple find happiness.

A motley of vacationers on a bus headed for a week long vacation at a seaside resort. The story is based on Operation Stone, during which State Security agents deliberately misled citizens of the Czechoslovak Republic who were attempting to leave the country illegally by creating fake borders and fake border patrols and interrogation teams from American, German, and French authorities. During interrogations, State Security officers convinced detainees that they had actually crossed the state border of our republic and obtained information from unsuspecting people, which was then used in criminal proceedings.

Even if it is a cursed place in a way, people grow attached to it and eventually lose the ability to leave. Even if they long to do so, like Marie. This powerful story of a cooling marriage, determined by the adverse forces of fate and focused on three main characters, touches on such life values as love, infidelity, suffering, and illusion. It tells us that a person must first find peace within themselves in order to have the strength to cope with their surroundings. The screenwriter Jiří Bednář was inspired by Robinson Jeffers' poem Turzovo kotviště (Turzo's Anchorage).

Lovers & Murderers is about the ongoing war between those who have and those who want to have what the others have. The have-nots see themselves as poor victims trying to get for themselves what is justly theirs. But when the have-nots become haves, they continue to see themselves as victims of the hordes baying for what is justly theirs, and they have neither the energy nor the security to enjoy what they have obtained. The movie takes place in the microcosm of a small apartment building. The principal goal of the young people who share rooms in the building is to move into their own room and, some day, a real apartment. They scheme to get what they're after: form short-lived alliances, petition, frighten, marry, become pregnant, anything that might work. Lovers & Murderers presents Páral's vision of mankind caught in a cyclical process in which ideology pales before the pettiness, cruelty, and self-justification of human nature.
