Shakti Singh is a poor, hardworking boiler mechanic who lives a happy life with his wife Seeta, mother, and two sons, Arjun and Vijay. Shakti always falsely fights against injustice. Once he is falsely implicated for this, and he has to go to jail. Seeta is forced to be a courtesan instead of the money owed by Shekhar, so a misunderstanding creates a rift between Shakti and Seeta; insulted Seeta leaves the house. Shakti realises his mistakes, but it's too late; soon, he takes to crime and becomes an underworld don. After some years, his two sons, Arjun, are married to Kajal and Vijay to Aarti. Kajal does not like his father-in-law as he is involved in illegal activities; Arjun is self-employed; Vijay has some bad habits for which he often quarrels with his father. Shakti has enemies and traitors in his business. The situation worsens when Vijay is killed.

Left in the care of an alcoholic Gangu Ganpat, young Heera, who named himself after a stray dog, wrestles with life in his young age. Years later, now a young man , he works for Mahendar Singh and is in love with Mohini, who will not have anything to do with him due to his lack of ancestry. Heera is now determined to find out who his parents are, and the only one who can help him is the elusive, alcohol-induced and incoherent Gangu Ganpat.

When she returns home she finds out that Amar is missing, possibly drowned. She blames this on Ashok and starts hating him. Sheroo escapes from prison, abducts Inspector Om and holds him prisoner, whipping him regularly.

Bishan loses his fortune while helping his friend Kishan in his singing career. Now successful, will Kishan return the favour?

Sanam Teri Kasam is the story of Sunil and his search for his father who has gone somewhere when Sunil was just a child. He meets Reena Roy en-route who leads him to his father Kader Khan. But unfortunately, somebody else (Ranjeet) has already been planted by Jeevan as Sunil and hence, Kader Khan neither recognises his real son, nor allows him to meet Reena Roy. This gets him in confrontation with Kishan, but ironically the two settle their differences and become fast friends. Vikram is still alive, and is not aware of his two sons and wife being alive.
