What child doesn’t dream of finding some secret door to the past! For Stella, a sassy 10-year-old, this dream comes true when she finds a magic wardrobe that transports her back to the early 20th century. There she must find a precious stone, the “Star of the Orient”, and ward off criminals who also want the treasure. Both haunting in its dream-like atmosphere and rousing through its spirited young protagonists, the film sweeps youngsters into a magical story of friendship and discovery.

Max Krenke, once a promising journalist, has made himself comfortable at a third-rate newspaper; as a husband and family man, he keeps the hamster wheel of everyday life running. Until he is laid off without notice on his 45th birthday of all days.

Gisela and Werner Bauer are shocked: shortly before the wedding to their only son Sebastian, dream daughter-in-law Jana has pulled the ripcord. She desperately lacks passion in her long-term relationship with the down-to-earth but somewhat comfortable Sebastian, which has become routine. While he reacts helplessly, his parents, who know that their ancestor and the long-established Bavarian carpentry business are in the best of hands with Jana, decide to take the plunge.

An invitation to an old childhood friend's 40th birthday throws the Baumgartners' hitherto happy life into disarray and makes them question their previous concept of life. Marie and Markus Baumgartner are a picture-book couple. But everyday working life and two children make it hard for the couple to catch their breath. An invitation to the 40th birthday of Marie's former best friend from school, Heike, including a long weekend, comes at just the right time. Without further ado, the Baumgartners hire Grandpa Walter as a babysitter and travel to Marie's old Bavarian home. The surprise on the spot is huge: Heike has achieved everything the two friends had once dreamed of. The chubby duckling has become a beautiful swan and she is living her dream job as a photographer. She lives in a dream house by the lake with her smart husband Hans.

Friends Lukas, Torben, and Christoph strike a deal: Lukas and Torben must transform shy Christoph into a “real man” by helping him lose his virginity to earn a cash reward. They hunt for college girls, only to discover Christoph falls for literature-loving Tanja on his own.

Eleven years old Jeff and his friends are looking for a treasure buried in the old castle.
