Pompeii, 79 A.D., the night before the eruption. The journey of “Tonight in Pompeii” with Alberto Angela begins here, in the hours leading up to the catastrophe. Minute by minute, we’ll follow the tragedy that forever marked ancient history, recounting the reactions, the emotions, and the flight. And what happened afterward. We’ll see many places frozen in time, just like Pompeii: Herculaneum, with its marvelous, still-intact thermal baths and the fabulous jewels found on the skeletons of those who fled; Stabiae and Oplonti, with their lavish villas featuring swimming pools and views of the Gulf of Naples.

Uto Ughi talks about W. A. Mozart, performing several of his pieces: Concerto in A major for violin and orchestra K 219, with I Filarmonici di Roma; Sonata in A minor for violin and piano K 304, with Marco Grisanti; Sinfonia concertante for violin, viola and orchestra in E-flat major K 364, with Dino Asciolla (2003).

A human and artistic portrait of Niccolò Paganini told by violinist Uto Ughi with I Filarmonici di Roma, who perform some of his most famous pieces, including: Capriccio No. 1 for solo violin; Capriccio No. 13 “La risata” for solo violin; Concerto No. 4 for violin and orchestra (Rondò).
