Ichiko Aoba

This animated short revolves around the events causing an electrical systems failure on the west coast of the US. According to Blade Runner 2049’s official timeline, this failure leads to cities shutting down, financial and trade markets being thrown into chaos, and food supplies dwindling. There’s no proof as to what caused the blackouts, but Replicants — the bio-engineered robots featured in the original Blade Runner, are blamed.

The late Fujio Akatsuka is revered by many Japanese artists and scholars for his developments to early comedy manga, but his contributions aren't just limited to the world of print media. Featuring commentary from family, friends, colleagues, and celebrity fans, Fujio Akatsuka's story is told with archival footage and animation, showcasing the life of the man who went beyond manga.

The concert film presents the January 20 performance in full, including on-stage moments and the encore song “Sayonara Penguin,” with bonus footage from special guest collaborations with Keigo Oyamada (aka Cornelius) at Kyoto Theatre and city-pop icon Taeko Onuki at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall.
