A 15-year-old Somalian boy meets a 40-year-old Iranian man in a refugee camp in Skåne, in the south of Sweden. With the threat of deportation hanging over them, they decide to take their faiths in their own hands and together they go on a journey in the Swedish summer.

Kurt Wallander and the other police officers try to find the connection between a horrible murder that took place in Ystad and the kidnapping of one of the police force's daughters. It also seems someone has infiltrated the police and controls every move the police make.

In the third Wallander film, starring Krister Henriksson, a bestial double murder is investigated in which the victims have been subjected to torture and where many point to the act of revenge. Henning Mankell's sharp-eyed commissioner has the assistance of daughter Linda, newly graduated police officer, and criminal inspector Stefan Lindman.
