The notorious neighborhood of Zona Norte is their home, but their minds are always elsewhere.

Among the Yéniches, a community of Gypsies, respect the of elders and religious fervor indifferently rub shoulders with vandalism. Fred Dorkel is a member of the community: feared and admired by his own, he lives by stealing cars. One night, his life is turned on its head when an angel appears before him. For Fred, it's the sign of a second chance and he must grab hold of it. He decides to settle down. But this choice sets him against his family.

A man returns to Tijuana in the hope of finding a woman who has lost herself in drugs and darkness and has apparently become a "white lady", a ghostly creature half way between heaven and earth.

On a fateful night, Fred, a yenish father of four, is gunned down. The next morning, his wife founds his t-shirt covered in blood and gets scared. But Fred doesn't have any wounds.

Everything should have been held peacefully around the fire, a glass Sky hand. But the spirit of vengeance seizes the group and the presence of a gun becomes the object of a strange incantation in which "Lady Death" is called, almost begged .

In a cellar, two men face each other through interposed tattoos. Between them stands a glass of water in which loats a grease-coated needle pointing North, like a compass. They put their tattoos close to the needle, hoping to attract it towards them, as if their magnetic tattoos might attract the needle, as if they were the North.

A young couple of deported Mexicans gets by in Tijuana between resourcefulness and petty theft. The little they earn goes into drugs and slot machines. She was raised in Los Angeles and he spent his life in gangs, which left him with a bullet wound in the head that sometimes affects his memory. But all the wounds, the drugs and the gambling cannot help them forget that at one time they were a real family with a child they loved tenderly, until the day the Tijuana authorities took her away. Time goes by and Wera’s love for Topo becomes nothing but a bitter memory that accompanies her in her descent to hell.
