Go back to 1985 for a concert by one of the most influential and acclaimed bands of the era, New Order. The genius of the band's post-punk, electronic, and dance music is on full display in front of an appreciative crowd. Touring in support of Low-Life, this concert was produced for Belgian Television music program, Rox Box.

New Order's first concert in the United States. Recorded at the Hurrah nightclub in New York City on September 26, 1981. It took place just four months after former Joy Division vocalist Ian Curtis took his own life, an event that forced the remaining members to change the group's name to "New Order." This performance captures the band's early days under this new identity, without Gillian Gilbert (keyboards/guitar) and prior to the release of their debut album, "Movement".

Featuring interviews with New Order's Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert, Record On: Power, Corruption and Lies unravels the creative process behind New Order's 1983 album, Power, Corruption and Lies as well as standalone single Blue Monday and explores the themes inside the album, of a band finding new direction and moving on from its past. Taking inspiration for their evolving sound from New York's new-wave clubs of the early 1980s and newly acquired sequencers and keyboards, electronic instrumentation quickly drove New Order's songwriting process, conceiving global smash-hit Blue Monday. This film also explores the impact of the technological shifts that took place in the early 1980s as the digital-age began to percolate through all parts of society - from commerce and financial trading, to offices and home entertainment; with contributions from graphic designer Peter Saville, Blue Monday producer Michael Johnson and American record producer Arthur Baker.

This isn't a documentary, but two completely separate concerts performed by the legends. The first finds them in 1981 playing New York. It's fascinating to see, because they still have that Joy Division image hanging over them. Brilliantly, they don't speak to the audience, or themselves. Heavily relies on the 'Movement' album, but has a proto Temptation, which is always good to hear. The second is their appearance at the 1998 Reading Festival, which is basically a greatest hits set, but there's nothing better than a New Order greatest hits: Regret, Bizarre Love Triangle, True Faith, Temptation (again!) and, of course, Blue Monday. The Joy Division back catalogue is also given a dusting down: Isolation, Atmosphere, Heart and Soul. Then there is an interview with the original four (we miss you Gillian) which reveals them completely at ease with their legend. God bless them.
