In the early years of the 20th century, Mohandas K. Gandhi, a British-trained lawyer, forsakes all worldly possessions to take up the cause of Indian independence. Vijay Singh is a disgraced former Merchant-Navy officer who is branded as a coward after he abandons his crew during an emergency. Guilt-ridden and trying to forget his past, he takes up work at a coal mine where he gets trapped with other miners after a flood hits them.

Bantu and Chantu are unemployed, and are not able to get any jobs due to lack of experience. They come across an advertisement for a hotel management program in Goa, and make their way there.
