For one night, Kika collects audio recordings of orgasms. The acoustic phenomena generated by this hypnotic trance reveal the form that had remained hidden in the shadows.

In the intimacy of their rooms, Claude-Emmanuelle, Régina, and Nicole apply makeup in front of mirrors. Their precise, repetitive gestures become rituals of transformation and self-affirmation. Fragments of past, secret thoughts, and desires emerge through their voices. Interwoven with images of the city, the film links private experiences to the universal, exploring destinies that brush against each other without ever crossing paths.

Estelle and Juliette are a couple who share an unhealthily close bond. And yet, their relationship seems phony. In a violent moment, Estelle decides to go to the village of Vourkoti.

300 million years ago, the north of France was a wetland. 140 years ago, a canal is dug and never filled with water. One day, vagabonds decide to go down an invisible river and pick on the way débris of a world to start a new one. The film finds its starting point in the 1970s environmental scandal of Love Canal (NY, USA) who led to the Superfund act (1986), the first federal program on damages caused to natural ressources by industrial sites. From there, the film traces a path through the post-industrial landscapes of north of France and questions, through fiction, the taking in hand (metaphorically and litterally) of those great landscapes.

When life becomes unbearable - we the freaks, the queers and the misfits find solace in the ecstasy of the night.
