Over the course of a late-summer's day in Moscow, Veronika, a charming if naive woman in her thirties, unwittingly embarks on a journey of self discovery as what starts out as a quest for romance leads her to some unexpected places.

A young department employee learns that the fire alarm for which he is responsible only exists on paper. Trying step by step to uncover the criminal circle of a deceitful system, he seeks support from his uncle, the head of the department. But this circle unexpectedly closes ... on himself.
