Devi lives alone in a bunker with one precious window to the war-ravaged world outside. One day, Devi hears a sound outside her window, and she sees a real live person for the first time. It's a woman named M, the leader of a group of Outsiders, vagabonds and outcasts.

Ray Hewitt, a shell shocked Vietnam Vet, returns home years after the war to move in with his sister Doris. However, the forces of small town U.S.A., Doris's three children and old trauma threaten to push Ray over the edge. Yet, the strain of Ray's visit may be just what is needed for the family to discover the importance of one other.
