In an inn in Trieste, Kyveli, wife of a political prisoner of the junta, falls in love with an old student of her husband, who has been distinguished for his activities against the dictatorship. But he will be forced to run away, along with his lover, as they are hunted by the police. Kyveli will go to Strasbourg to present evidence to the Council of Europe, which proves human rights violations in Greece, but the session is postponed and she now lives in a web of fantasies and unfulfilled expectations.

Christina and her mother have as neighbors a man who dreams of singing and the son of a wealthy family, who is not interested in money but wants to become a painter. Both young men love Christina. She chooses the aspiring painter, against her mother's advice. The couple will have a child, but the man will end up working in construction when he discovers that he suffers from color blindness and therefore cannot paint. With the help of the second man, he reconciles with his father and mother and rebuilds his life from scratch.

Members of an otherwise typical New York Brooklyn family are "tortured" by a kind of hereditary madness. In the meantime, the adopted nephew Mortimer tries to do everything to protect his two aunts, who indulge in a variety of dangerous acts, such as poisoning lonely and homeless elderly people, and burying them in the basement of their house. What follows is Tsakona's transformation and consequent attempts to adjust to his new vampiric lifestyle, while a clumsy exorcist and some of his fellow villagers are after him.
