Popi Asteriadi was born in Athens, grew up and has lived in the Evangelistria area of Piraeus since 1973. She was one of the most important representatives of the New Wave. She made her debut at the age of 15 in G. Economidis' "New Talents", passed the exams of the then Radio and immediately became famous. Her participation, three years later, in the Thessaloniki Song Festival and immediately after the release of her first album was the beginning of her great career in Greek artistic singing.
