What do volunteer firefighting, Dalmatia, Jože Potrebuješ and denial of one’s true self have in common? This is a film which tells nothing new… A film about Slovenian popular music, the only genre that can live off its consumers’ approval alone; no subsidies, whining and advertising. What happens after music critics and art theorists go to bed? What happens when radio editors stop pretending that mainstream music in Slovenia is in sync with that at global level? What happens when students quit the act of being urban and progressive, surrendering themselves to their newly discovered roots? What happens is Slovenian Popular Music.

2006, Mozart year. The Mozart trademark is now worth no less than 5 billion Euro, not to mention the music, which is so worth listening to. We at MTV (Mozart TV) decided to be part of this celebration. So we created a quiz in a true "WWBM " style and entitled it "Who Wants to be a Mozart". The host of the programme is Mr Antonio Salieri, who is the master of ceremonies to ten competitors: Lizst, Rossini, Beethoven, Tschaikovsky, Bach, Schubert, Mussorgsky, Falco and Mozart himself, who wishes to gain one million Euro like the rest of the competitors and claim back at least a tiny slice of the cake, which countless others have earned by exploiting his name and music.

Žan is in the seventh grade and an excellent student. He is dedicated to astronomy most of his time and is much better than his coevals so in the school club he is the one selected to participate in the republic competition. A year ago, Igor, a nine grader was as well at the competition. Although he was successful, the second place he won was not good enough for him, so he gave astronomy up. Now, however, he is witnessing Žan's success and becomes very envious.
