This is how their secret exchange diary begins. Nozomi Kuroda soon learns that the intended recipient for the first letter was her best friend. Crossing from Iran into Turkey, Sawaki reaches Istanbul, then Greece and onward through Italy, Spain and Portugal—dealing with dwindling cash and a stolen passport as the journey closes in on its end.
