The film takes place during the Afghan war in an area where, by agreement of the warring parties, no military action was conducted. Taking advantage of this convenient circumstance, local mafioso Karakhan secretly built a drug factory here. US intelligence agencies find out about this and begin an operation to seize the factory. However, Karakhan's fighters are well trained and armed, they repel all attacks. But the American soldiers get an assistant: an unknown person destroys drug caravans and blows up the houses of Karakhan's partners...

Criminals kidnapped the son of the chairwoman of the city administration. Feelings of helplessness and fear follow. A series of checks, mocking calls, humiliating requests for help to colleagues in the "shadow business" goes on and on.

Young lieutenant arrives to tank regiment stationed in the Central Asia. He uses unusual for Soviet Army methods to train his soldiers. It predictably leads to tensions with superiors and subordinates. However later it pays back during live exercises.

The film is dedicated to the poet Komsomol member Sergei Chekmarev, who tragically died in 1933.
