This is a story of the mysterious force that fuels attraction and desire, success and vitality, that elusive 'je ne sais quoi'. Some have it, some don't, and Paul, an unpredictable loner, falls into the latter category. A frustrated creative living a dead end life, Paul is at odds with everything in his environment and with himself. When he reaches out to Anna, a seemingly kindred spirit who lives across the hall, could things be changing for him? With a distinctive sharp wit and visual expression, the film explores the complexities of 21st century relationships and the fine line between acceptance of others and settling for less.

Depicts the daily life of "Layton House," a fictional therapeutic community, where doctors live with their schizophrenic patients. The characters and events of Layton House were drawn from writings of the anti-psychiatry movement , whose most famous proponent was R.D. Laing. In this film we see experimental therapies, power struggles, and the individual arcs of mental illness converge, as a community struggles to understand itself and determine its destiny.

In the midst of watching a dog, phoning a pretty girl, and entertaining a neighbor, eccentric twins Simon and Dave become immersed in intriguing conversations while amusing themselves and also, to varying degrees, those around them.

Robert is a bookish, somewhat withdrawn entry-level office clerk waiting for a to-go order of food. While getting a breath of fresh air and staring into space, he's accosted by Bradley, a disembodied head with eyes like drains who begins to berate him--perhaps telepathically--with petty insults disguised as good advice.
