After a stay in a sanatorium due to violent behavior during an arrest, Detective Karl Jørgensen is transferred to the fraud department. Bank director L.W. Jacobsen resides in a small provincial town. He is not particularly interested in his wife, Elsebeth, but rather in teacher and city council member Miss Mortensen. Thorsen, the town's manufacturer, is a member of the same city council group as Jacobsen. Then Don Olsen comes to town. Olsen is not interested in the upper class, but rather in people. The young siblings at the Hejrenæs estate, Vibeke and Hans-Henrik, have always gotten along well, so Hans-Henrik decides to celebrate his sister's 21st birthday with a big party at the estate. During the party, the siblings' childhood friend, Ulla, provokes an engagement with Hans-Henrik, and at the same party, Vibeke learns that she is "only" an adopted child. The festive Mrs. Ingeborg, who earns her living playing the organ in church and at dances when the young people want to party, is constantly short of money. Venus aux belles fesses, or Venus with the beautiful buttocks, is the name given to a statuette by the famous Swedish sculptor Sergel, and this small work of art, a draft in fired clay, plays a significant role in this fantastic story. In a strange way, Venus intervenes in the turbulent fate of art historian Hannibal Svanø and creates conflicts for many others. After spending the whole summer leading a nomadic but rather pleasant life, interrupted only by occasional periods of work with old friends around the country, Svanø now sets off for the capital. On the way, he manages to persuade an old schoolmate, Judge Truelsen, to give him a loan that enables him to enjoy a hearty meal in a small, cozy restaurant called "Asietten."

The new students Eigil and Arne celebrate the end of school. "You are now grown men and women with a carnal desire that every human being contains. This desire can be like a fire in your body, but don't let yourself burn to death," their old teacher admonishes. Nevertheless, the encounter with Copenhagen and its many temptations turns out to be fateful for the charming Eigil and the otherwise faithful Arne.

Social democracy propaganda film about future dreams for Denmark in 1960. Although Denmark is free again, the former opponent and worker, Svend, is disillusioned: "It is all something soft". The dream of the future is incarnated by a young woman, Karen, who shows Svend the visions of a better life in the 'youth's land'. There are homes and a nuclear-powered car for everyone.

In order to supplement the family income, Marius Bastrup rents his unused rooms to young women looking for a "discreet stay." The drama in the film revolves around the young women and their circumstances, especially as it relates to one girl's abortion.
