Everyone calls our hero Uncle Yasha (well, if officially, then Yakov Markovich Levitin). And he is certainly a historical person. People enter history in different ways - he entered with a movie spotlight. Yakov Markovich has been working as an illuminator at the Russian Central Documentary Film Studio for almost 57 (!) years. Over the years, he traveled around the country, saw many famous and important people (including all the political leaders of the country - from Stalin to Yeltsin). And he also "illuminated" the era. It was thanks to the light of the searchlights installed by him that it was possible to capture on film almost all the main political events of the second half of the twentieth century.

But only relatively recently, thanks to the research of the famous Russian historian William Pokhlebkin, we became aware of the details of a grandiose "culinary" action – a series of banquets that accompanied the negotiations of the allies in the devastated Crimea that difficult, still military winter. For obvious reasons, these feasts could not get into the field of view of the newsreelers of that time. But ... miraculously preserved materials give us the opportunity to feel their scale and specific atmosphere. No one says to see. And no one claims that the materials are documentary.

On a chilly winter morning on December 27, 1922, the steamer "Majestic" departed from the French port of Cherbourg on its way to America. On board was the troupe of the Moscow Art Theatre, led by Konstantin Stanislavsky, who was already a world-renowned theatre director and the creator of the famous system. Our film will tell the story of this historic tour, which marked a significant milestone in the life of this great theatre reformer of the 20th century.
