Bodo Wartke is the gentleman entertainer on the wing. The audience appreciates him as a chansonnier and virtuoso pianist as well as a versatile actor and charming conférencier. At the age of 19, on 16 November 1996, the cabaret artist gave his first full-length concert and looks back on a career as an artist that had lasted almost 20 years. After the four piano cabaret programmes Ich denke, so' ich (1998), Achillesverse (2003), Noah war ein Archetyp (2006) and Klaviersdelikte (2012) and the solo play König Ödipus (2009), the programme Swingende Notwendigkeit with The Capital Dance Orchestra followed in 2013. NRIn the Forest of Hearts, a little, sweepity, swoopity, swappity, sweet unicorn is born. But even though everyone is very lilacly-loving to it and constantly feeds it with sweet lucky clover, the little critter does not behave unicorn-like at all. It just keeps saying no, so soon its family just calls it uNOcorn. One day, the uNOcorn breaks out of its cotton candy world and sets off to NOWHERE. On the way, he unexpectedly meets a raccoon that refuses to listen (HUHcoon), a watchdog that doesn‘t seem to care about anything (SOWHATchdog), and princess that always talks back (PrinceYES). The four of them make a pretty good team. Because even being stubborn is much more fun together.

NRThe new play by Bodo Wartke! Following Oedipus Rex, the piano cabaret artist proves his acting talent for the second time with a tragedy by Sophocles. Wartke and his long-time stage partner Melanie Haupt play all the roles in the play in rapid role changes with few props in a minimalist stage design. The contemporary interpretation not only delves deeply into the story of Oedipus' eldest daughter, but also incorporates the prequel that Sophocles tells in Oedipus at Colonus. With all due respect, yet humorously, the creators of the play approach their Antigone without detracting from the tragedy of the piece.
