Four short stories depicting the private life of Czechoslovak soldiers. In the short story "The Pheasant", the hardened corporal Kony takes revenge on the bullying of the new recruit Lubos. On the way to get a tank repaired, however, a manly friendship is born between the two men. The story Potato depicts a brigade during which, despite the prohibitions of a strict professor, soldiers and students become close at an evening disco. The buns bring to life the problems of military love: Štěpánka prefers Peter to Honza, but pays heavily for her mistake. The film closes with the short story "The Solution", in which a lieutenant from Slovakia has problems with the arrangement of his family life.

On one of these 'trips' he meets a drummer returning home from his stint in the army. They live through various adventures together, meeting bandits as well as human foolishness and perfidiousness which almost leads them to the scaffold.

A story inspired by real events from the 1950s to the 1970s. Honza Steiner was neither a tough guy nor a thug. He was just a boy who had the misfortune of finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. He ended up on the wrong path due to a series of unfortunate coincidences. Honza was raised in children's homes, juvenile detention centers, and eventually prison. He waged a long, undeclared war with a public security officer, one that was not exactly abounding in rules. The conflict culminated in a staged hunt for Honza, who unfortunately shot his arch-enemy and was sentenced to death for it.

Tonda is a sixteen-year-old boy who has a talent for sports. His father, who is also a coach, would like Tonda to focus on javelin, but his son is drawn to football. Despite his father's reluctance, he moves to Prague so that he can practice his dream football in top conditions. He lives with his uncle, a footballer, and also gets a glimpse behind the scenes of sports, where the road is not always straight. But this apple didn't fall far from the tree...

Every year, prominent actors from the animal kingdom gather on the magic carpet to present film awards. The lion king keeps order, and Bobo the platypus provides entertainment. His performances are interspersed with films called La Fontaine's fables. The organization runs smoothly, even though each performer's act has its own charm of awkwardness.

The comedy unfolds in the attractive environs of the never-ending filming of a TV series. The performance opens up with wonderful interplay of relationships, characters, situations, conflicts, big hopes and ambitious plans interwoven with a love motif. At the end of this bizarre story we are surprised by the harmony created from the discord of authentic human emotions.

In an effort to secure his new family, an insurance agent undertakes an effective raid on clients, unaware that elsewhere, a scam is being hatched against him, and apparently not just one. The speed with which problems begin to pile up relentlessly rises vertiginously, and the fall becomes uncontrollable.
