The hero of the film, academician Sergei Vasilyevich Lunin, director of the Kiev Research Institute of Informatics, is working on the implementation of the Unity project in the enterprises of a single department. According to his calculations, this global information network should significantly reduce the number of intermediate instances and, accordingly, the decision-making time. Lunin has opponents. Despite a sharp deterioration in health, the hero goes to the Novogorsk Tractor Plant and there he finds out the real reason for the downtime, and, consequently, the reason for hiding the data. Knowing that he has only six months to live, Lunin abandons the operation and does everything possible to protect his project.

The film takes place in late 1941 in Transcarpathia. Soviet paratroopers landed on the territory occupied by the Hortists. Of the six, only Olexa Borkanyuk manages to bypass the ambush. However, the Nazis, taking local people hostage, threaten to punish them if he doesn't voluntarily surrender. For the sake of saving the lives of people, Olexa goes to the camp of the enemy. The film is based on real facts from the life of the writer and journalist, Hero of the Soviet Union Olexa Borkanyuk.

The young man who dreamed of a career in aviation failed the medical exam. Yet, he did not give up on his dream: he worked, trained, and listened to the advice of those with more experience. The following year, his vestibular system was no better, and the medical board rejected him once again. Veronika and Boris come together in Moscow shortly before World War II. Walking along the river, they watch cranes fly overhead, and promise to rendezvous before Boris leaves to fight. Boris misses the meeting and is off to the front lines, while Veronika waits patiently, sending letters faithfully. After her house is bombed, Veronika moves in with Boris' family, into the company of a cousin with his own intentions.

Post-war reconstruction. New residents turn on their first television in their new apartment—a bulky bandura with a tiny screen. On the screen are Tarapunka and Shtepsel, who promise a real revue — more precisely, a tour of Kyiv. But how can you do a tour if you can't see anything from here, Tarapunka reasonably asks. They decide to climb the radio transmission tower.

The second half of the 1950s. A new microdistrict is being built on the outskirts of the city. A group of guys - graduates of a craft school - is sent to the construction site. Also on the construction site arrives a group of girls from the village. The youth collective is fused, sympathy and love are born...
