Silvana Tamma

In the untamed beauty of the island owned by an extraordinarily wealthy Marquis, Elena's arrival marks the beginning of a passionate love affair. Complicity and transgression, sex and power, in a film inspired by 1960s Italian true crime, where erotic play unfolds into obsession.

Italy, 1997. When Clara and Irène, both 17, meet they are nothing like each other but get on marvellously well. They run away together to a faraway island off the coast of Sicily to live their summer freely, and to hide from a reality they want to forget.

On a winter’s day, Nena gathers her family to celebrate her birthday. Il paradiso del pavone is a small journey into the intimacy and authenticity of human beings: a film about an extended family in which everyone talks but no one really listens. Until an unexpected event forces the family members to look into each other’s eyes and reveal themselves for what they really are.

The coming-back of a Bosnian studying-abroad girl leads to an unexpected discovery that will slowly erode family relationships.
