Numan Çakır

Sivan, at around the age of 20, is a native of the Southeastern region of Anatolia. His father Saho is the leader of the Givdanli tribe who stays distant both to the state and to the insurgents who are influent in the region, in order to secure its existence. One day, Sivan meets with the girl he loves, Berfin in a field around the village. The same day the field is burnt by saboteurs and the whole harvest of the village is wasted. The investigation initiated after the incident, changes Sivan's life drastically. Taken in for an interrogation, Sivan is caught between the police and the insurgents. Thinking his son's life is in peril, Saho assures Sivan's fleeing out of the country. Taken to Germany by the help of a illegal network, Sivan is located in a refugee camp. However, in this new land whose language is alien to him, Sivan will go through an ordeal which will add a new dimension to the residue of his experiences in Turkey.

Kubilay is a young teacher. He has come to the district of Menemen in Izmir as a second lieutenant to do his military service. Dervish Mehmet, who proclaims himself the Mahdi, and his men, guided by Sheikh Esat and Laz Ibrahim, go to Manisa to start a new uprising. On their way to Manisa, Çakır Ramazan escapes from the group. Thinking that he will report them, Derviş Mehmet decides to start the uprising in Menemen. Upon hearing this, Ragıp Bey asks Kubilay, who knows the people of Menemen, to look into the matter.

Blind singer Yüksel is expecting some respectable customers, however the best musicians of the town are engaged to leave to another city for a folk dance competition, therefore Yüksel needs to locate new musicians. Hairdresser Kazım, takes photographs of people who resemble the characters in the novel Snow by Orhan Pamuk as well as streets and objects to print as postcards, but he has a hard time convincing the towns people who are not fond of the novel which is set in Kars. Three imaginary musicians, two apprentices and a child chasing a goose accompanies the searching of these two protagonists.

Hüseyin, the richest and most promiscuous man in town and owner of a white goods store, introduces new items to the townspeople when he brings new items to town, such as under-the-counter air conditioners and double-door refrigerators. One day, Hüseyin crosses paths with two Russian girls (Cicişler). He brings the Cicişler to the town dressed in sheets.

Since the death of his parents, the teenage Burak lives with his uncle Cemil and grandmother in a remote Turkish village town. ​ They try to make a living by selling pomegranates but while the religious Cemil is satisfied to live his life in poverty, Burak struggles to leave for the city and going to university. ​ When the grandmother gets sick, both have to make tough decisions that will change their lives.
