Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1950. In the conservative home of the Gusmão family, Eurídice and Guida are two inseparable sisters who support each other. Eight women convicted for violent crimes find themselves trapped in a prison where there are no rules and where darkness has only one meaning - death. A shapeless executor is killing the convicts in the same way they committed their crimes. As the mysterious deaths mount up, suspicion grows amongst the prisoners. In a race against time, they will have to overcome rivalries and dig back into their past to find the missing link that can set them free. Who brought them there and what for? Will they be able to escape alive? Or will the merciless punisher make them all pay for their crimes?

After a shooting assignment, Henrique is mugged by two armed motor-bikers who steal his camera and speed off. Seconds later, he watches both get hit by a pickup truck driven by a self-appointed avenger, someone weary of feeling defenseless against the urban violence, and who decided to take action. Henrique recovers his stolen equipment and leaves, feeling avenged. But he goes back to find the memory card, with the photos, lost during the crash. From that moment, he is trapped in a situation where he is now the criminal for failing to rescue a victim, who had been his aggressor. Going from the murder scene to the police station, and then to the emergency ward of the public hospital, he attempts to clear himself.

When Pacific Licutan, Salvador's most esteemed Islamic leadership, is arrested by the Bahian authorities, the Muslim community goes into a boiling state and begins to articulate a jihad. In desperation, Guilhermina sees in the uprising the only way to win her daughter's freedom.
