Yokohama, 1963. Two historical incidents that deepened the friendship between Japan and Turkey are connected in this story of friendship and compassion: In the night of 16 September 1890 the Turkish frigate Ertuğrul is caught up in a typhoon and sinks off the Japanese coast. Risking their own lives, local villagers are able to rescue 69 Turkish sailors. Although being very poor and having hardly to eat, the villagers share what little they have with strangers from a country 9,000 kilometers away. 95 years later, during the Iran-Iraq War, more than 300 Japanese are stranded in Tehran. In the morning of 19 March 1985 a Turkish Airlines aircraft takes off for Tehran to evacuate the Japanese. But the remaining Turks at Tehran Mehrabad Airport still need to be convinced that they won't be able to board their own country's rescue flight.

When radicals from Japan's Red Army took a woman hostage in the resort town of Karuizawa, Nagano in 1972, Officer Atsuyuki Sassa was put in charge of diffusing the situation. But the task had its challenges. Upon arriving in mountainous Nagano, Sassa had to compete with freezing winter temperatures, conflicting opinions between the Tokyo Metropolitan Police and the Nagano Prefectural Police, as well as public opinion to gain entrance to the lodge that held the single woman captive.

He was rescued by two men who happened to be the well known Akechi Kogoro and Kosuke Kindaichi. The famous duo were asked to be witnesses and provide information for the police record. From the surface, it was a simple case of suicide. However, soon after the incident, the police lieutenant committed suicide in his office. Slowly from the gathered evidence, the two most unlikely cases are being linked.

Sayaka, a high school student, kills herself but the reason behind her suicide is unknown. She appeared to have led a normal life with her family. Her mother Rumiko seemed to have raised Sayaka with love and care. In reality, that does not seem to be the case. When the mother and daughter recall the same incidents that took place in the past, they tell very different stories.

As a precaution, Yuki (Yuki Oki) is sent to inspect one—but after seeing something, he returns screaming in terror. When the Yamazaki group later gathers, a visibly shaken Yuki insists, “That house is haunted.” His claims are brushed off as pests—except for Saito (Katsuya), who clearly believes him. Soon, the group somehow finds itself sharing ghost stories, unknowingly marking the start of a truly frightening inspection…
