Rara, a lonely 8-year-old girl, wants a small window in her hut located in the slum area of Menteng Pulo, Jakarta. Mbok, Rara's ailing grandmother and her father, Raga, do not have enough money to buy the window. So Rara and friends busk for money in the streets or rent out umbrellas on raining days. Meanwhile, in a luxurious housing complex in Jakarta, Aldo, 11-year-old boy, and does not have any friends. Neglected by his rich father, Ratna Syahri, his grandmother, Nek Aisha, is his only comfort. One day, Aldo meets Rara when the car he is in, grazes her. They become good friends and she is the one he turns to when he flees from home after a quarrel with his brother.

The story follows Seto Mulyadi, who has yet to find a successor to carry on his mission of educating and protecting Indonesian children. His hopes rest on Dela, an artist entrusted with mentoring four talented children: Lin, who is weighed down by her mother’s ambitions; Josh, who struggles to focus; Hadi, who speaks softly; and Fikri, a talented child from a low-income family. Amid a rehearsal process fraught with personal conflicts, Dela—who is actually beginning to waver—must save the performance while proving herself worthy of being the successor.

Six-year-old Lala has a masculine nature, as her father, Anton Wijaya, who wanted a boy. And when Dina is disappointed with Kak Seto, this triggers Anton Wijaya’s anger. He thinks that Kak Seto wants to ruin his family. Then Bujel, with his devil-may-care unconventional attitude, arrives to bring their problem into focus. This is the point when Lala’s problem can be solved. The film presents a nicely handled child psychology problem while criticising the psychologists at the same time.
