Arun falls in love at first sight with a bank cashier Seetha and follow her everywhere. Seetha refuses his love and tells him her past. In the past, Seetha was from a middle-class family. Subramani, Vellaisamy, Arumugam and Ponrasu are four friends from poor family; they are graduate but they cannot find a job. Their fathers feel that they are good-for-nothing and decide to corrupt the politician Anja Nenjam to find them a decent job. Anja Nenjam is linked to Pannaiyar, a ruthless landlord who exploited the villagers. Pannaiyar orders him to flee with their money, otherwise, nobody will respect him. Their friend Pazhanisamy, who is supposed to be a supervisor in the city, is back to his village and was also cheated by Anja Nenjam. The five friends decide to become milk suppliers in their village.

Moorthy is a lorry driver, who lives with his mother Ramaatha and often confronts the criminal Govindan. Moorthy and Uma fall in love with each other. One day, her father has a heart attack, when Moorthy and Uma rush him to the hospital the roads were blocked by a local political party. Her father unfortunately dies, the angry Moorthy clashes with the political party leader Sigamani in public. Later, Govindan joins his party and stands in election as well as Moorthy. In the meantime, Moorthy and Uma get married. The corrupt politician Sigamani orders to kill Govindan and blames the innocent Moorthy. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Prabhu, a swindler, pretends to be in love with Pooja, a wealthy businessman's daughter, to steal an expensive diamond. He soon meets Pooja's sister, Indu, and realises he is attracted to her.
