Former Amsterdam police detective Floris Wolfs has been transferred to the police department of the south-Dutch country town Maastricht. Dit was het nieuws is a Dutch television program of RTL4, wherein two teams give a satirical account of the previous week's news. The program has the form of a game show in which two teams, each with a team leader and weekly guest, compete against each other. The scoring is not serious; after the first round, for instance, the score is always 4-4.

Basically, LUBACH will probably be very similar to De Avondshow with Arjen Lubach. The presenter also discusses current affairs in his characteristic, humorous way in this satirical late night show. With sharp monologues, in-depth stories and playful sketches, he and his team examine politics, media and society. All this is interspersed with changing guests, music and of course a good dose of comedy.

It is the time of major social changes, squatter riots and demonstrations. The idealistic young detective Jurre de Cock is just starting at station Warmoesstraat. His partner, the purebred Amsterdammer Tonnie Montijn, shows him around the city. But then the duo comes across a criminal conspiracy, which appears to be part of a bigger plan. De Cock is also assigned a new partner: Andy Ruiter, transferred from the Bijlmer.
