Raf Fellner

A group of artists retrace the travels of the American writer Paul Bowles in Morocco and record the musical diversity he first documented over fifty years ago.

The film follows detectives Cooke and Shickle – by Fellner and Williams – as they search for a young boy in London, from Wormwood Scrubs to a greasy spoon cafe and a dog racetrack.

Asli Baykal’s Darkroom, created with the young participants of the Sirkhane Darkroom Workshop in a border town between Turkey and Syria, opens the screening program. In it, children roam the area, looking at the world through the viewfinders of analog cameras, in an intimate vision of the medium as a form of play and a way to forge an alternate reality in a conflict zone.

The film looks like a real murder that took place in a council estate. CSI Landor House pairs a recording of the filmmakers’ friend telling the story of a murder he witnessed in a council estate in West London with photographs and other images recreating the murder scene.

The filmmakers become detectives as they investigate the case of a missing boy in Chinatown, tracking down real characters and real life characters around the five boroughs of New York City.
