The everyday life of the prisoners consists of interrogations, psychological and physical violence, arbitrary punishments and other torments. When the Queen visits the island, the prison guards find the runaway and murder him without a second thought, since he is already assumed dead.

The Recorder, the keeper of Epameinondas's mind, documents his moments on on little notes. Encouraged by his best friend Yiannis, Epameinondas sets out on a hike to escape the weight of a recent breakup. As time flows by, he becomes a father, only to later find himself battling dementia in a nursing home. The Recorder's room is now in a state of danger. Yet, the hike goes on.

In a country in deep crisis, two worlds collide: the bourgeois milieu of an intellectual psychiatrist, and the humbler, but no less ambitious world of a beautiful working class actress. They fall in love, but they will soon have to face reality.
