The story of young Amos Oz, growing up in Jerusalem in the years before Israeli statehood with his parents; his academic father, Arieh, and his dreamy, imaginative mother, Fania.

Four short stories unfold in a sleepy Jerusalem neighborhood, where everyday troubles collide with one looming misfortune that threatens to tie them all together.

A troubled family must face facts when tragedy strikes their son's desolate military post.
