The film describes what it’s like growing up in Germany as Afro-German, with all its facets. The film was made after the racist killing of the black German Adrinio in 2000 by Neo Nazis.

After the death of his mother, shy Werner Schmidt finally starts looking for a partner. But on his dates, the electronics-enthusiastic, organized single man unfortunately only comes across as a bore - and consequently has no luck when it comes to love. The quiet man therefore relieves his stress at night by setting things on fire. He prefers to blow up luxury cars using his bomb-making skills and a remote-controlled car.

The sisters Rosalie and Bianca stick together, come what may. In fact, they have no other choice - their mother has died and left them with a pile of debts. Taking part in a design competition is supposed to help. The organizer is the famous fashion czar Paul Petit. Just like the two budding fashion designers Rosalie and Bianca, the designer Rosenschmelz and Leon Bär also throw themselves into the contest.

When a salon refuses to hire her because of her plump figure, irrepressible hair stylist Kathi plots revenge by opening her own beauty parlor next door. But when she faces a cash-flow problem, Kathi resorts to some creative means of raising capital.

Martin has failed as a veterinary surgeon and works in research. But then he loses this job too. He is neither stupid nor lazy, just incredibly scatterbrained. His girlfriend Tessa has had enough and throws him out. Martin is left in a shambles. Just at this moment, he receives a call from his mother Beate: his father Henning, a veteran country vet, has broken his arm and needs Martin's help.
