Ricardo del Mazo

In 1336, Pedro, heir to the Portuguese crown, marries Constanza Manuel de Villena, a Castilian noblewoman, for political reasons; but the impulsive prince ends up giving in to his love for Inés de Castro, his wife's lady-in-waiting.

A Spanish engineer working in the Guinea jungle marries a woman whom he has been corresponding, only to find that the photograph he was sent was of his wife's best friend. He becomes obsessed with that other woman.
