On the 1991 European Basketball Championship an incredible event occured. A team of some of the greatest Balkan basketball stars accepted gold and watched the flag of their country be lifted up. The flag of a country that no longer existed.

War, economic sanctions, inflation... Everything stopped in 1995 - something a day earlier, something a day later, for many - everything happened on 2nd of July. That day, the basketball players became European champions! And finally light in the darkness of Yugoslavia. It was the first post-war gold, the first sports medal after the sanctions, and it was the first spontaneous championship balcony.
