In 1947, a post-war year, Semyon Chizhov, a student of a naval representation school, and Victoria, a young woman who works at the school as a senior pioneer instructor, meet by chance.

In the small town of Kandalaksha, Petya lives out a fantasy life as a traffic cop. He has a holster, a wooden gun, and the locals humor him by following his "orders." When a convict escapes from a nearby prison, Petya joins the manhunt as any good officer would.

After the end of the civil war, sailor Ivan Ivanov, who dreams of working at the legendary Putilov factory, arrives in Petrograd to build a new life.

A thirteen years old Anton escapes home in order to cross the country and get to his brother who works very far away.

The protagonist of the film - Vasily Derzhakov - is a skilled worker. After the pre-trial detention, Vasily is released from prison ... Thus, life itself warned him against further mistakes, to which the immoral "norms" of existence inevitably lead.
