David Bienstock

An American stuntman working on spaghetti westerns in Europe picks up two pretty American tourists and they decide to take a road trip around Europe together. However, things don't turn out exactly as each of them expected.

Nothing happens and everything happens-- in the simplest of experiences there is a complexity and a vitality unknown and unfelt until the moment when we begin to let its wonder filter into us and flow through our bodies, our minds and our souls. When that happens the ordinary world becomes extraordinary-- the magic of the universe is within each moment and act perceived in as many levels as we can contain. Nothing Happened This Morning attempts to capture this state of unconsciousness in the first twenty minutes of an ordinary--extraordinary morning.

A totally forgotten film, one of only three made by the tragic David Bienstock. David was very influential as the first Whitney Museum film curator, but sadly took his own life at the age of 29 in 1973. Brummer’s, his final work, was an NYU student film in which he investigated the possibility of cubism in narrative cinema. - FLEXfest 2011 program
