She was fired and disowned by her family. She lived homeless for 40 years without ever asking anyone for anything, except sometimes a book to read.

March 8th, 1972. Maria Silvia Spolato is the first woman to come out as a lesbian in Italy publicly. This act of courage will turn her life upside down.
