Who is the funniest Berliner? Helga Hahnemann or Edith Hancke, Brigitte Mira or Cindy from Marzahn? rbb television is looking for the Berliner with the biggest mouth and the even bigger heart. Who will be number 1? To this day, they inspire TV audiences with their big mouths and big hearts - genuine Berliners such as Ingrid Steeger, the nation's "funny girl", Helga Hahnemann, the unforgettable "Henne", or Cindy from Marzahn, the cult figure in pink and jogging pants. From a selection of 15 ladies, rbb Fernsehen is looking for the funniest Berliner of all time. Highlights from 60 years of German television entertainment will be presented: legendary appearances and sketches, curious finds and lots of music and artistry. There will be a reunion with the master cake thrower and fast-talker Gisela Schlüter, the funky rock star Nina Hagen, the "Drei Damen vom Grill" and many, many more.

Widow Käthe Mühlmann is a little eccentric. Every day she confides her worries to the photo of her husband Hubert, who has been dead for ten years but is still closer to her than her two friends Arabella and Brigitte. Käthe does indeed have reason to worry: her much-loved granddaughter Christine has lost her heart to the dubious Stefan Seyler, who is cheating on her through and through. What's more, Seyler has turned Christine's traditional café into a shady nightclub.

Arno Adelmann, a former building contractor who at first glance seems a little grumpy but is actually quite likeable, literally comes alive when he temporarily takes in his neighbor, the young pharmacist Ina, and her young daughter Caro in his villa. However, Adelmann's scheming daughters and their spouses are convinced that the stubborn old man is merely about to squander his fortune on a cunning heiress. And so they apply to the court for his incapacitation. But the old nobleman has not fallen on his head.

Captain Ebbs is an older, experienced seaman who has, however, only sailed on freighters. While his current old barge, the Martin Luther, has to go into the shipyard for an overhaul, the shipping company gives him command of the elegant cruise ship Julia to temporarily replace a colleague who has fallen ill. The film depicts the first month of 1945 when the Russian Red Army broke into the eastern part of Germany and forced millions of civilians to flee in the coldest of winter. While the Russians invaded Ostpreussen hundred of thousands of civilians were evacuated by ships. Gotenhafen was the last open port and ships left the town almost by the minute, overloaded by refugees. One of the last ships to leave Gotenhafen was the 'Wilhelm Gustloff', a former 'Kraft durch Freude' pleasure cruiser designed for 1000 passengers. Until today it is unknown how many people were on board but it is said to be around 10.000. The ship sunk without a trace and only a handful of people survived this hellish nightmare.
