David is in love with his neighbor Rosalba and follows her everywhere. Rosalba, heartbroken because her boyfriend left her, decides to marry David.

She has an incurable heart condition, her son's a shoplifter, her husband's an alcoholic, her daughter runs away from home...

The young pacifist Claudio is saddened to see some children playing war. He goes with a group of rebels who make fun of him and invite him to participate in a motorcycle race where the prize is a girl. Ál wins the race with the help of Rafael, the head of the band, and decides to buy to join the group, on a trip they meet with some hippies led by a psychologist who opposes drugs. Two of the gang members, Gabriel and Bernardo, attack one of the girls; the hippies in revenge violate Mimi and sa Julia, for which Bernardo kills a hippie. Claudio fights with him but Mimi intervenes and receives a stab aimed at Claudio. Ál recalls that Rafael was a brother and a lover of her. The police arrest the hippies and scold the parents for the behavior of the young people.

Rogelio’s story, a young man of humble origin in the neighborhood of Tepito, who falls in love with the daughter of a wealthy grocer, Michelle, but his marriage to her will be a failure and he will end up as a one more drunk.

A movie divided in two segments, the first "La puerta" (The Door) is about a high society gathering in which a door inside the mansion leads to a bizarre corridor where a naked and menacing human figure appears. The second "La mujer del carnicero" (The Butcher's Wife) is set during the Mexican revolution and is about horrifying hallucinations felt by a lieutenant after committing a murder.
